NEW 2015 DODGE CHARGER "HELLCAT" 707 HP

Almost immediately after we drove the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, we began wondering: what's next? Pumping 707 horsepower into the Challenger seemed so crazy – and so intoxicating  we just assumed that Dodge would try that trick again.
Rumors swirled about a Charger Hellcat. Frankly it makes even more sense than the Challenger version. The Charger is a bigger car, and Dodge has never been shy about dropping monster engines under its hood. Hell (cat), we've seen Charger mules running around town that appeared to be the super sedan.
And finally, it's here. The 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat was revealed today at a preview event near Detroit, and it will be a centerpiece of the Chrysler display this weekend at the Woodward Dream Cruise.

The Charger gets similar Hellcat treatment as the Challenger. Under the hood is the now familiar 707-hp supercharged V8 displacing 6.2 liters. It pumps out 650 lb-ft of torque, can sprint to 60 miles per hour in 3.7 seconds and can post a quarter-mile time of 11.0 seconds – both times 0.2 seconds slower than the Challenger. The engine is paired with the same eight-speed automatic transmission offered in the two-door Hellcat, which is specially designed to handle the increased output.

There's plenty of "show" to complement the "go" of the Charger Hellcat, yet it all has a purpose. The hood scoop and air extractors help cool the V8, and there's a custom spoiler in back. It all rolls on 20-inch wheels.

Theoretically, Chrysler can only do so many Hellcat variants, but perhaps the Jeep Grand Cherokee or the Ram 1500 would be good options for another one. It's not like we're suggesting a Dart Hellcat. Or are we?
