South Carolina man arrested for bigamy after allegedly found having four wives
Darnell Pixley, 49, was arrested Wednesday after wife number three
allegedly found out about wife number four and contacted authorities,
according to the Newberry County Sheriff’s Department.
The South Carolina man was arrested after allegedly discovered having four wives — and authorities say there could be more.
The 49-year-old was arrested Wednesday for bigamy after wife number three allegedly found out about wife number four and contacted authorities, according to the Newberry County Sheriff’s Department.
The woman maintained that she is Pixley’s legal wife and never had a divorce.
On Pixley's Facebook profile he shows a photo of himself last November with a caption reading in part, "on my honeymoon," to some apparent surprise from his friends.
"You got married?" one asked.
"Yes he married," replied another.
Sheriff officials say since December 1988 Pixley has married four women in four different cities and counties. His most recent was last November.
"We don't know his motive yet," Sheriff Lee Foster told WISTV.
He surrendered to authorities Wednesday morning before released on a personal recognizance bond of $2,500.00.
He's due in court on October 24.
